Drive Medical Gravity 8 Pressure Redistribution Mattress - DM-15886
The Gravity 8 Pressure Redistribution Mattress by Drive Medical has a multi-layered foam system that provides outstanding zoned pressure distribution. This mattress provides additional protection against heel pressure ulcers. Heel comfort is maximized by a gently sloping heel section and channel cuts in the middle layer of foam under the foot section. The comfort of the Gravity 8 mattress is equally matched by its durability. The cover provides functionality and convenience, as it is not only easy to clean, but it is also fluid-proof, tear-resistant, fire retardant, and low sheer. With its comfort, convenience, and practicality, Drive Medical's Gravity 8 is the right choice for anyone in need of a pressure redistribution mattress.
The Gravity 8 Deluxe Pressure Redistribution Mattress is step up from the Gravity 7. The Gravity 8 features three full layers of foam to maximize comfort and ensure proper pressure redistribution. The top layer features a die-cut section and memory foam heel section to target pressure redistribution zones, while the bottom layer has full-length, horizontally-scored articulation cuts, which helps keep the mattress intact for longer. What makes the Gravity 8 unique is the 6” to 5” heel slope and “channel cut” center layer of foam, which just means that there are square-like tunnels inside the mattress. This design helps to target and prevent heel ulcers. The high-density foam edges ensure transfers from the mattress is easy and safe. The Gravity 8’s stretch cover features a low shear design which is fire retardant, fluid proof, tear resistant and a breeze to clean. The optional elevated perimeter and cut-outs have two benefits: The elevated perimeters help to keep the user from falling out of the bed, while the cut-outs assist the user in getting off the bed when transferring.

What our Experts Think
- Excellent pressure redistribution for long-term care – The three-layer therapeutic foam design helps evenly distribute weight, reducing pressure points and supporting skin integrity for users at risk of pressure injuries.
- Targeted heel protection – A sloped heel section with channel-cut foam helps offload pressure from one of the body's most vulnerable areas, making it especially beneficial for extended bed rest.
- Comfort without sacrificing support – Zoned die-cut foam contours to the body while high-density perimeter edges provide stability and safer transfers in and out of bed.
- Built for durability – Articulation cuts in the base layer improve flexibility on adjustable hospital beds and help extend the mattress lifespan.
- Practical for clinical and home care settings – The fluid-resistant, low-shear, vapor-permeable cover promotes hygiene, moisture management, and easier maintenance.
- Strong value in a non-powered mattress – With advanced pressure redistribution, a 400 lb weight capacity, and a durable foam construction, this mattress delivers many premium therapeutic features without the complexity of powered systems.

Maintenance Tips
- Wipe the mattress cover regularly with mild soap and warm water to maintain hygiene and extend cover life.
- Clean and disinfect immediately after spills or between patient use using approved disinfectants; avoid harsh phenolic cleaners and excessive alcohol-based products.
- Allow the mattress to air dry completely after cleaning. Do not dry in direct sunlight, as UV exposure can damage the cover material.
- Inspect the foam core and cover every 3 months for tears, compression, wear, or fluid penetration. Replace damaged components promptly.
- Ensure the removable fluid-resistant cover remains properly zipped and intact during use to protect the foam layers.
- Rotate usage positions when appropriate and keep the mattress properly supported on a compatible bed frame to maximize durability.
- Do not fold, crease, or stack the mattress, as this can damage the pressure-redistribution foam structure.
- Periodically check for excessive foam compression; significant compression may reduce pressure-relief performance.
